Oriental Style Hamburger Hash

This recipe is also from the old cookbook collection I posted about yesterday. I will be using recipes from this collection for a while, as they are tried and tested family recipes, and go well in the freezer. Oh, and the ever important quality of being FRUGAL!!

The original recipe, in the cookbook was contributed by Mrs. George M. Neuffer of Englewood, Ohio (1966)
I have adapted the recipe with freezer instructions.

1 lb ground beef
2 med. onions
1 c. sliced celer
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of chicken soup
1/4 c. soy sauce
1/4 tsp pepper
1 1/2c. warm water
1/2 c. uncooked rice
3-4 oz. crisp chinese noodles

Brown meat until crumbly. Add onions, celery, soups. Add 2 soup cans of water. Stir in soy sauce, uncooked rice and pepper. Put into a slightly greased (or sprayed) casserole; cover. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake another 30 minutes. Cover with noodles and return to oven for about 15 minutes longer. Makes approx. 8 servings

FREEZER FRIENDLY VERSION:
In a freezer bag add browned meat, onion, celery, soups and freeze. On the day of cooking, allow to thaw. Put into a casserole. Stir in soy sauce, 1 1/2 c. water, and rice; cover. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake another 30 minutes. Cover with noodles and return to oven for about 15 minutes longer.
