Lentil Sprouts

As plants are beginning to sprout, there are some that are enjoyed in dishes, in sprout form.

Let your children grow their own Lentil sprouts to try.
For this project you will need:
dried lentils
cheese cloth
quart jar
jar ring or rubber band

Measure about 1/3 cup of lentils and soak overnight in about 4 cups of water in bowl or container. Drain and rinse with fresh water, and place lentils in a quart jar.

Over the top of the jar, place a piece of cheese cloth. Hold the cloth in place with the jar ring or a rubber band. Keep the jar in a dark cupboard. Rinse twice a day, adding cool water and draining thoroughly. Make sure all of the excess water is drained each time you rinse them.

You should have lentil sprouts by the third day. Have your children sample the crisp sprouts at snack time. Lentil sprouts are full of protein and vitamins!!
